Project/Mission Statement
As science fiction author Ray Bradbury once said, “Space, the mirror, waits for life to come look for itself there.” Through the medium of stained glass, my Senior Integrative Project seeks to reconcile the scientific search for life beyond Earth with its philosophical and spiritual ramifications. The project features three panels depicting the technology, people, and research involved, which together symbolize the intersection of science, culture, and art in humanity's quest to understand our place in the universe. To fabricate the panels, I combined the digital processes of sketching, vector design, and laser cutting with the traditional techniques of breaking, foiling, and soldering stained glass.
