We'll encourage you to use a variety of methods to explore the many aspects of history. That might be by writing historical fiction, making a short film or creating a museum exhibit. We'll encourage you to travel across the United States and abroad to gather primary research for your studies.
Our challenging, creative environment has inspired students to produce research work as diverse as a cultural history of North Carolina's Outer Banks at the time of the Wright brothers' first flight and the theories and practices of non-racialism in South Africa.
Students sometimes assist faculty members with their research projects or find internships that give them opportunities to pursue historical research.
The College's libraries maintain a rich collection of history resources as well as many history databases.
See the history department's Honors/Independent Study section for more information. And start thinking about where your research might take you.
