Nadav Assor

Faculty Director

Nadav Assor is Associate Professor of Expanded Media at Connecticut College’s Studio Art department. His work takes on systems of technological mediation that are frequently military-industrial  in origin, from eye-tracking cameras to drones, telepresence-robots and mixed-reality environments. Low-fi versions of these are critically repurposed in his work to function as a means for creating communities, connections, intimate human dialog and visceral audio-visual-tactile experiences. Assor’s videos, installations and performances have been featured in film festivals, museums, galleries, and live venues across North America, Europe, and Asia. Assor’s work has been reviewed in publications such as Hyperallergic, Artforum, Vice Motherboard, Art Monthly UK, the Chicago Tribune and Haaretz. His single channel video work is distributed through Video Data Bank, Chicago. He was a Fellow at the Open Documentary Lab at MIT from 2019-2022. He was a Fellow at the Open Documentary Lab at MIT from 2019-2022.

Steve Luber

Associate Director

Steve Luber is a scholar, teacher, and artist specializing in the intersections of media and performance. He has published work on post-digital performance, the Blue Man Group, and Radiohole, among other topics. He has directed devised work and musicals at various colleges and universities, and has collaborated with the Builders Association and David Byrne.

Rachel Boggia

Associate Fellow for Curriculum

Rachel Boggia makes, performs, and documents dance works, often in collaboration with other artists, scientists, and thinkers. She also frequently makes documentaries on other dance artists, creates video installations, designs video projections for performance, and experiments with online embodied education through a project called Meta-Academy. It is her pleasure to serve as Associate Professor and Chair of Connecticut College Department of Dance. She has taught courses in art and multimedia at the Bates Dance Festival, Bates College, Wesleyan University, and now teaches the Ammerman Gateway course here at Conn. Her collaborative works have been shown in Boston, Philadelipha, New York, Seattle, Frankfort, Limerick, and online. 

Lyndsay Bratton

Associate Fellow for Information / Research

Lyndsay Bratton is the Assistant Director for Digital Scholarship in Information Services, working with faculty and students to build and publish open-access, born-digital scholarly projects. She is also the library liaison to the arts departments and teaches a course in art history on art crimes and the value of art. Her doctoral research focused on Czech modern craft and design in the early twentieth century, and visual and material culture’s role in creating national identity.

Andrew Greenwald

Associate Fellow for Events

Andrew Greenwald is Assistant Professor of Composition and Technology in the Music department at Connecticut College. His compositions investigate experimental approaches to both instrumental writing and musical form, often utilizing algorithmic processes to find solutions to musical questions. Recent commissions have been premiered at Walt Disney Hall on the L.A Philharmonic’s Green Umbrella Series, The Borealis Festival in Bergen Norway, Philharmonie Luxembourg Series, Festival Musica in Strasbourg France, and the Darmstadt Ferienkurse in Germany. Andrew's compositions are published by Edition Gravis (Berlin), and his recent portrait cd A Thing Made Whole was released on KAIROS. In addition to freelance work as a composer, Andrew has been an active member of the composer/performer collective Ensemble Pamplemousse since 2002. The group employs a collaborative model for creating experimental work, fusing chamber music, popular music, theatre, instrument building, improvisation, electronics, and video.

James Lee is a computer scientist and media artist interested in computer graphics, visualization, games, physical computing, and virtual reality. His recent research focuses on virtual humans to design and develop a lifelike computer interface by digitizing a real person’s figure and nature, including personality and mannerisms. Lee received his BS and MS degree in Architecture from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea, MFA from the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), and a Ph.D. degree in Electronic Visualization Laboratory, Computer Science at UIC.

Andrea Wollensak

Associate Fellow for Design

Andrea Wollensak is an artist, designer, and educator. Her work spans multi-media from traditional and digital fabrication, to generative-interactive systems and includes digital storytelling with community partners, programmers, sound artists, and poets. Themes in her work explore design for social impact through place-based public narratives, mapping, and site-installations for civic participation. Wollensak has exhibited internationally and received grants/residencies from the Rockefeller Center in Bellagio, Italy, the International Artist Studio Program, Sweden, the National Science Foundation, Banff Centre, and the Anchorage Museum. Wollensak is on the Advisory Council at Winterhouse Institute, a community of design educators committed to excellence in social design.
