Dear Students and Families,

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us.

You’ve navigated to our Diversity page, so the first thing I should say is this: Connecticut College has an abiding commitment to provide access to our education and support for student success. This commitment is rooted in our founding: We were established in 1911 as a women’s college after the only university in Connecticut that admitted women succumbed to pressure to stop doing so.

Since then, we have become co-ed … and the importance of serving underprivileged and underrepresented students has remained. The resources and education available to every Connecticut College student creates abundant opportunities for academic, professional and personal growth.

All the programming we offer is our honest effort at welcoming you to the possibilities of life as a Camel. Each program requires collaboration throughout campus, and a community that at its core wishes to continue our history of great students.

I hope you’ll take a moment to read about our programs to see if any would be a good fit for you:

Fly-in Programs: Our Fly-in Programs are designed to give students who are BIPOC, first-generation college students, or have a commitment to social justice and diversity an opportunity to visit campus, meet with student leaders, staff and faculty, as well as take part in one of our open houses or Camel Days for admitted students. Read more about Fly-in Programs.

Social Justice and Diversity Days: Social Justice Days and Diversity Days are virtual events open to all who want to learn more about how Conn facilitates student success. Social Justice Days showcase our students' research and efforts around activism that promotes equity. Diversity Days focus on our Division of Equity and Inclusion and the work they do to ensure the fairness of our campus policies, practices and services. Read more about Social Justice Days and Diversity Days.

General Admission Programming: We have extensive in-person and virtual programming so you can get to know Conn. In-person options include tours and interviews; virtual options include interviews, information sessions and Coffee with a Camel. Read more about your options.

By choosing to visit this page, you have indicated that diversity is important to you. If you're looking for a college where you'll be celebrated, supported and called on to further equity and inclusion, I hope you'll consider being a Connecticut College Camel.

Sincerely,

Rosendo Anguiano-Sainz ’21
Assistant Director of Admission
