New London: our hometown

We have one of the most extraordinary hometowns of any liberal arts college in the nation.

Nestled between the shores of Long Island Sound and the banks of the Thames River, New London boasts an active arts community and plenty of quirky restaurants, cozy coffeehouses and eclectic shops. Grab a seat and discuss ideas over a cup of coffee at Muddy Waters, a lobster roll at Captain Scott’s or a Namaste smoothie at Right Path Organic Cafe.

The student experience extends beyond campus: community learning and civic engagement enhance the experience of every student at Connecticut College. Through partnerships with more than 50 local organizations in the greater New London community, students serve on neighborhood planning boards, work for local businesses and nonprofits, and volunteer in schools. Likewise, our neighbors enjoy the many cultural events, lectures and performances that happen weekly on campus, and the Connecticut College Arboretum is a beloved community fixture.
