Laxman earned his Ph.D. from the Graduate Center, CUNY, in 2020. He completed his B.A. from Middlebury College.
His research interests lie in the field of Applied Microeconomics, with a focus on health, education, and immigration issues. His research strives to understand how government policies (historical as well as contemporary) impact individuals and households, especially those in vulnerable socioeconomic positions.
He has been teaching Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Economics of the Welfare State and Race, Poverty and Inequality in the U.S.
