Sabrina Notarfrancisco is a costume designer for live performance. In addition to teaching courses in Fashion History and Costume Design and Construction, she works closely with students in the costume studio, a hands-on environment where theory and practice seamlessly intersect.
Sabrina received her M.F.A. in Costume Design from the University of Connecticut and has worked as a designer for theater, musical theater, and dance on over 70 academic and professional productions. She has also collaborated as a costume shop manager, draper, and mask builder for theaters across the country.
An active member of The International Organization of Scenographers and Theater Architects (OISTAT), and the United States Institute of Theater and Technology’s (UISTT), Sabrina served as the Associate Jury Manager for World Stage Design in 2022 in Calgary, and as an Associate Curator for the U.S. National Exhibition at the Prague Quadrennial in 2023. She has presented her designs at numerous international symposia and has exhibited work at the Costume at the Turn of the Century: 1990-2015 exhibit at the A.A. Bakhrushin State Central Theatre Museum in Moscow and at the Vestuario a Escena costume exhibition in Mexico City.
Sabrina’s publications include “Collision of Art and Life,” an article chronicling the experimental costumed Tribes exhibit at the 2015 Prague Quadrennial, and “Spotlight on Costumes,” which documents the costume exhibitions, award winners, and design trends at World Stage Design 2017 in Taipei. Both pieces were published in the Theater Design & Technology journal.
Sabrina is the proud recipient of the John S. King Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching.
