Palmer Auditorium and Castle Court Renovation
The longstanding commitment to the creative and performing arts at Connecticut College is embodied in this iconic Art Deco building on the southeast corner of our central campus: Palmer Auditorium. The original home of the American Dance Festival, Palmer also has been the site of numerous performances, plays, readings, recitals, films, lectures and classes over the last 80 years. The goal of the project is to re-conceive Palmer Auditorium for a new century, with renovations in keeping with the College’s vision of producing creative, adaptive thinkers in pursuit of a more just and equitable world. The arts have always been central to this vision, offering a powerful vehicle for experimental practice and social change. This renewed facility will be the engine, driving new forms of creative research and performance.
