The best way for us to stay in touch with you is by email. We send many announcements, invitations and our monthly parents newsletter electronically. With your email, we also can update you quickly in case of a campus emergency. (Note that Connect-ED is our primary way of notifying members of the College community of these emergencies. College events

Most College events are free and open to the public. Details are posted on http://www.conncoll.edu/events/

In print

CC: Connecticut College Magazine is mailed free to all alumni and current parents. Highlights are available online at http://cconline.conncoll.edu/. If you do not receive an issue or need to update your address, contact the Office of Communications at 860-439-2500 or email ccmag@conncoll.edu.

The College Voice student newspaper is published weekly while classes are in session. The staff can be reached at 860-439-2841. Home subscriptions to the print edition are welcome.

Through the hometown press release program, your friends, neighbors and relatives can read all about your student in their local paper. The Office of Communications publicizes student achievements by sending press releases to hometown newspapers and posting stories on the College website. To fill out a publicity card or report updated newspaper information, your student may contact the Office of Communications at 860-439-2500.

Communicating with your student

Campus Post Office

Did your student forget something at home? Want to send a card or a care package? Each student is assigned a campus post office box, and is notified of their numbers and combinations the summer before their first year. Students may receive mail via FedEx or UPS as well as the U.S. Postal Service. When sending mail, please include your student’s box number, along with his or her name and the College address. It also helps to include his or her class year to expedite delivery. For example:

Mary Student
Connecticut College (Box 1234)
Class of 20XX
270 Mohegan Avenue
New London, CT 06320-4196

Mailing FAQs

Phone Services

On request, the College will provide a student a telephone, a phone number, a voice mailbox and free local calling. Your student should write an email to phone@conncoll.edu.

Personally owned phones are not allowed because much of our system is digital; analog phones, such as cordless handsets, may not work here.

Students will be asked to provide cell phone numbers for emergency and college business purposes when they log into the College network. These numbers will never be publicly available or a part of general directory information.

Although most students use personal cell phones, students may use a prepaid phone calling card to make long-distance calls from College phones. Prepaid cards are sold at the College Bookshop as well as many off-campus locations. Of course, students may also use a cell phone for long-distance calls.

The College does not recommend using collect calling. Collect calls carry expensive surcharges as well as high per-minute rates. These charges are not readily advertised and there are no warnings when placing these calls. There is no 1+ long-distance phone service in residence house rooms.

After your student graduates

Your student’s connection to Connecticut College will last far beyond Commencement. We hope yours does, too. For several years following your student’s graduation you will receive newsletters and other College e-communications. If you are a regular donor to the College, you will also continue to receive CC: Connecticut College Magazine and other print communications.
